Pottery cup history



Pottery cup - a vessel of small volume (approx. 200 ml) having the shape of a hemisphere (with possible variations), to which is attached optionally ring-shaped "handle" to hold. The cup is used for direct drinking hot beverages. In some cultures, the cups also have taken in Japan extended a cup without a handle - Pialat.
Ceramic cups are:
- Broth. To feed broths, soups, purees and filling soup with finely chopped foods. Manufactured with two (from opposite sides) and with one handle.


- Tea. Used to supply tea, coffee with milk or cream, coffee-Warsaw, cocoa, chocolate.

In many religions, the ceramic cup of various shape and volume are used as objects of worship, such as a chalice in Christianity or singing bowls in the eastern religions.
